Questions
- Is Dalm for meetings or for dictation?
- Both, and they share one archive. Dictation types what you say into any app, at the cursor. Meetings and calls are recorded without a bot and written up after they end. Voice notes keep a thought you say out loud. Whatever you dictate, record or note lands in the same place, and you can search it later. Speech is recognised on your Mac, and the text goes to our servers.
- Which Mac do I need?
- A Mac with Apple Silicon and macOS 15.0 or newer. Dalm is an app for the Mac only: there is no web version, and the iPhone app is in development. The same app does dictation, meetings and voice notes, so there is nothing else to install for one mode or the other, and the Free plan covers all three.
- Does a bot join my calls?
- No. Dalm records your microphone and the sound your Mac plays, so nothing joins the call and the other side sees no extra participant. Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams are recorded the same way, and so is a phone call on speaker next to the Mac. The app does not announce the recording either, so telling people you are recording is up to you.
