Sembly suits agencies and consultancies that turn client meetings into branded proposals and push tasks to a CRM. Dalm is for one person on a Mac: speech is recognised there and no audio is sent, while the text syncs to our servers.

When Sembly is the better choice
- You deliver work to clients. Sembly keeps clients and brand packages in a workspace and generates branded proposals, reports and decks from what a client said. Dalm writes a summary for you, not a document in someone else’s brand.
- Tasks have to land in other tools. Sembly sorts risks, requirements and decisions, assigns tasks, and pushes them to Salesforce, HubSpot or Asana, or through Zapier, webhooks and MCP. Dalm does none of this.
- A team works from one record. Pro covers up to 40 members and MAX up to 500, with meeting collections, auto-sharing, custom vocabulary and an analytics dashboard.
- You record on a phone. Sembly’s mobile app records a meeting in the room. Dalm records any call your Mac plays, Webex included, and a conversation across a table, but only on a Mac with Apple Silicon · macOS 15.0 or later.
- A security review asks for reports. Sembly states SOC 2 Type II and GDPR, and HIPAA compliance on MAX and Enterprise. Dalm holds no certification.
When Dalm is the better choice
- The recording stays on your Mac. Dalm turns speech into text on the Mac you are using, sends no audio anywhere and deletes the audio once the text exists. The text does leave: each transcript syncs to our servers automatically, a language model reads it to write the summary, and no setting turns that off. How local and cloud recognition differ.
- Nothing runs out. No plan puts a limit on recording minutes, on the length of a recording, or on how long anything is kept. There are no credits to spend, and an old meeting does not age out of a plan.
- You want notes, not deliverables. Dalm records, writes the transcript and a summary, and stops there. Every quote shows you where it was said — open it and the transcript opens at that place.
- You also write by voice. Hold a key in any app, speak, and the words go where the cursor is. Everything you say lands in one archive you can search: meetings, phone calls, conversations in the room, and what you dictate to a model.
Looking for a Sembly AI alternative?
If you are one person who wants a record of your own meetings rather than a client production line, Dalm is simpler: speech is recognised on your Mac, the audio is deleted, and no plan counts hours or credits. The text still syncs to our servers, where a language model writes the summary, so it is not an app that keeps everything on one machine. If your work is proposals for clients, tasks in a CRM or a team of dozens, Sembly is built for that. A page for the minutes themselves is the meeting minutes template, and seven note takers are compared by name. Paid plans are on the pricing page.
Questions
- Who is Sembly AI built for?
- Sembly describes itself as a platform for professional services. A workspace holds clients and brand packages, and from client meetings it generates branded proposals, reports and decks. Dalm is a Mac app for one person's own meetings and dictation; it makes no client deliverables.
- How much does Sembly AI cost?
- Sembly's Basic plan is $17 a month for one user, or $10 a month billed annually. Pro is $29 a month for each member, or $20 a month billed annually, and MAX is $39, or $30 a month billed annually. A free trial covers one meeting hour. Dalm's Free plan covers meetings and dictation, and Pro is $16 a month, or $12 a month billed annually.
- How long does Sembly keep my meetings, and how long does Dalm?
- Sembly keeps meeting history for 2 months on its trial, a year on Basic and two years on Pro; MAX and Enterprise keep it with no time limit. In Dalm, no plan puts a limit on recording minutes, on the length of a recording, or on how long anything is kept.
- Does Sembly AI train its models on my meetings?
- Sembly says it does not use audio, video or text from Enterprise customers for model training, and that other plans can opt out in settings. Dalm sends no audio anywhere; the transcript syncs to our servers, and a third-party language model reads it to write the summary. Dalm does not train models of its own; what the provider of its language model does with the text is not set out on this site.
- Can Dalm record a meeting in the room, like Sembly's mobile app?
- Yes, from the Mac. Dalm records a conversation across a table from the Mac's microphone the way it records a call, and recognises the speech there. Sembly records in-person meetings in its mobile app; Dalm has no phone app.
