Hazel suits advisory firms that want meetings, emails and custodial data in one client profile and plans drafted from it. Dalm is for an advisor on a Mac: speech is recognised there and no audio is sent, while the text syncs to our servers.

When Hazel is the better choice
- Your firm runs on client data. Hazel pulls meetings, emails, CRM entries and custodial records into one profile for each client, and syncs with your email, calendar, CRM and custodian. Dalm knows only what was said in your meetings.
- You want plans drafted for you. Hazel’s Financial Planning Agent, a separate plan, drafts financial plans, and Hazel builds branded PDFs, charts and checklists for clients from that data. Dalm writes a summary; the plan is yours to build.
- Follow-up is part of the job. Hazel drafts a follow-up email in your voice after each meeting and a briefing with an agenda before the next one.
- Several advisors share one standard. Hazel reviews advisors after each meeting, runs firm-wide modes and templates, and sets roles and permissions.
- A security review asks for reports. Hazel states SOC 2 Type II and keeps data in the United States. Dalm holds no certification.
When Dalm is the better choice
- The speech is recognised on your Mac. Dalm turns speech into text on the Mac in front of you, sends no audio anywhere and deletes the audio once the text exists. The text does leave: each transcript syncs to our servers automatically, a language model reads it to write the summary, and no setting turns that off. How local and cloud recognition differ.
- Nothing joins the meeting. Dalm records your microphone and what your Mac plays, so a client on the phone, on speaker or across the desk is recorded the same way.
- You can start alone. The Free plan covers meetings and dictation; there is no demo to book; until it is public, the way in is the waitlist. No plan puts a limit on recording minutes, on the length of a recording, or on how long anything is kept.
- Quotes that lead back. In each summary, every point keeps a word-for-word quote. Every quote shows you where it was said — open it and the transcript opens at that place.
- Dictation in the same app. Hold a key in any app, speak, and the words go where the cursor is. Everything you say lands in one archive you can search: meetings, phone calls, conversations in the room, and what you dictate to a model.
Other tools advisors mention
- Finmate describes itself as a notetaker for financial advisors: talking points before a call, summaries and action items after it, sync with CRMs, calendars and Zoom, and SOC 2 Type 2. It also sells agentic AI and consulting. Taken from its home page, checked on .
- Slant is a CRM for financial advisors; its notetaker records meetings and ties them to the client’s record, next to AI chat, prospecting and workflows. Taken from its home page, checked on .
- Mili describes itself as a meeting AI agent for wealth advisors: notes, follow-up emails and action plans after a meeting. It adds no bot to Zoom or Teams calls, states that it keeps no recordings and that it redacts Social Security and account numbers, connects to CRMs, calendars, financial planning software and custodians, and has apps for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android; its site lists no prices. Looking for a Hazel AI alternative?
If you want a record of your client meetings without a platform built around your firm’s data, Dalm is the smaller tool: speech is recognised on your Mac, the audio is deleted, and the text syncs to our servers, where a language model writes the summary — so it is not an app that keeps everything on one machine. If your firm decides which tools may touch client conversations, ask it before you choose any of them. More on meetings with clients is on the page for financial advisors, and another advisor tool is compared on the Jump page. Paid plans are on the pricing page.
Questions
- Is there a Hazel AI alternative for a solo advisor?
- Dalm is one, if you advise clients from a Mac with Apple Silicon · macOS 15.0 or later and what you need is a record of each meeting. It recognises the speech on your Mac and sends no audio anywhere. The text of each meeting syncs to our servers automatically, and a language model writes the summary from it.
- How much does Hazel AI cost?
- Hazel's pricing page lists the Hazel Platform at $60 a month for each seat, its Tax Planning Agent at $160 and its Financial Planning Agent at $300, each with a 14-day trial, and Enterprise plans through sales. Dalm's Free plan covers meetings and dictation, and Pro is $16 a month, or $12 a month billed annually.
- How does Hazel record a meeting?
- Hazel joins the meeting once it is admitted and posts a note in the chat when recording begins; its transcription partners may briefly store the audio and video while processing them. Dalm joins nothing: it records your microphone and what your Mac plays, recognises the speech on the Mac, and syncs the text to our servers.
- Does Dalm build financial plans like Hazel?
- No. Hazel drafts financial plans and client-facing summaries from client data. Dalm writes a summary of what was said in the meeting; the numbers and the advice stay with you.
- Does Dalm connect to my CRM or custodian?
- No. Dalm's one connected tool is Google Calendar; the transcript and summary leave as text you copy or as a Word, PDF or Markdown file, and putting them into a CRM is your step. Hazel syncs with email, calendar, CRM and custodian; Finmate syncs with CRMs, Mili connects to CRMs and custodians, and Slant is a CRM itself.
