Dalm vs Fellow

Published · Updated

Fellow suits teams that run meetings together: shared agendas, private 1:1 notes and recording rules set by an admin. Dalm is for one person on a Mac: speech is recognised there and no audio is sent, while the text syncs to our servers.

When Fellow is the better choice

  • Meetings are prepared together. Fellow gives every connected meeting a shared agenda that attendees fill in beforehand, carries open action items into the next meeting and keeps 1:1 notes private between a manager and a report. Dalm starts when the meeting does.
  • An organisation sets the rules. Admins decide which meetings are recorded, send disclosure emails, set retention, redact transcripts on Enterprise and see workspace analytics. Dalm has no admin controls of this kind.
  • Your team is not all on Macs. Fellow has desktop apps for Mac and Windows and phone apps for iOS and Android. Dalm is a Mac app for Apple Silicon · macOS 15.0 or later.
  • Notes go into project tools. Fellow connects to Jira, Asana, Notion and Zapier, and to Salesforce and HubSpot on Business. Dalm does none of this.
  • A security review asks for reports. Fellow states SOC 2 Type II and GDPR. Dalm holds no certification.

When Dalm is the better choice

  • The speech is recognised on your Mac. Dalm turns speech into text on the Mac you are using, sends no audio anywhere and deletes the audio once the text exists. The text does leave: each transcript syncs to our servers automatically, a language model reads it to write the summary, and no setting turns that off. How local and cloud recognition differ.
  • No notes to ration. No plan puts a limit on recording minutes, on the length of a recording, or on how long anything is kept. Fellow’s Free plan stops at five AI notes for the life of the account.
  • Quotes that lead back. In each summary, every point keeps a word-for-word quote. Every quote shows you where it was said — open it and the transcript opens at that place.
  • Dictation in the same app. Hold a key in any app, speak, and the words go where the cursor is. Everything you say lands in one archive you can search: meetings, phone calls, conversations in the room, and what you dictate to a model.

Looking for a Fellow app alternative?

If you want a record of your own meetings rather than a system for running a team’s, Dalm is the simpler tool: speech is recognised on your Mac, the audio is deleted, and no plan counts notes. The text still syncs to our servers, where a language model writes the summary, so it is not an app that keeps everything on one machine. If your team plans meetings together and needs admin rules, Fellow is built for that. For the parts around a meeting there are free templates: a meeting agenda, a one-on-one and meeting minutes. Paid plans are on the pricing page.

Questions

Is there a Fellow app alternative for Mac?
Dalm is one, if what you need is a record of your own meetings on a Mac with Apple Silicon · macOS 15.0 or later. It records your microphone and what your Mac plays and recognises the speech there, so no audio is sent. The text of each meeting syncs to our servers automatically, and a language model writes the summary from it.
Does Dalm write meeting agendas like Fellow?
No. Fellow gives every connected meeting a shared agenda that attendees fill in beforehand. Dalm records the meeting and writes a summary afterwards; for the agenda there is a free meeting agenda template you can copy, and a one-on-one template for 1:1s.

Can a whole team use Dalm the way it uses Fellow?
Each person records their own meetings on their own Mac. The Team plan is described on the team page; it has no shared agendas, meeting policies or workspace analytics, which is what Fellow is built around.
